Create or import a wallet

A Coinbase account and a self-custody wallet are different products. You don’t need to enter your Coinbase account password here.

Back up your recovery phrase
IMPORTANTWrite it down and store it somewhere private and offline. It is the key to your wallet and cannot be reset by Coinbase.

Is this the same as my Coinbase account?
No. Coinbase Wallet is a self-custody wallet, separate from your Coinbase account. Your wallet’s recovery phrase is not your Coinbase account password.
Can Coinbase recover my wallet if I lose my phrase?
No. In a self-custody wallet, you are responsible for your recovery phrase. Keep it private and store it securely offline. Coinbase support cannot restore it.

Does setting up a wallet cost anything?
